Dirty Water Tactics
Dark or contrasting color baits (morning glory, chicken on a chain)
1/16-1/8 jig heads in 3 ft or less water depth
3/8 jig heads in 4 ft of water or in current
Bright color or loud topwaters (pink, bone)
On an incoming tide, the fish are concentrated, it’s easier to locate structure and ambush points are defined
Temperature – colder is better and fish deeper and slower in very cold water. On warmer days, the fish are more spread out, look for bait, topwaters are good. The time of day is not critical in dirty water.
Clear Water Tactics
Natural color baits (pumpkin seed, shrimp). Use bright plugs and white topwaters.
Tides – a low tide with clear water hampers the ability of the fish to catch prey
Temperature – warmer is better, fish are more active, look for bait. On cold days, slow down retrieve.
The next meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm, March 20th at the Sosa Community Center, 1414 Wirt Road.
