Fishing License and Jump Starting car/truck

Thanks to Michael Smalley who reminded me that our TX Fishing License expired last month. So, if you have not done so (like me) it would be smart to check that task off your list.

On a recent trip, a buddy’s truck battery was pretty much out of juice due to a fuel pump that ran all night. It took a bit of maneuvering to get a car along side to jump start it. All you TX guys could do this in your sleep, but the link below lays out all the steps. I have a question: Why is it important to connect the cables as described? Why connect the negative on the “dead” vehicle to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the engine block or frame. Do not attach the negative clamp to the Negative battery post??
