Matagorda Island NWR - May 17-19 - Multiday Trip
By mullet_key @ 5:58 PM :: 763 Views

Folks, I had nice chat with our Matagorda Island Kayak-Shuttle guide Van Crittenden at the fishing show. He is ready for us, new boat and everything. We are already getting PACK Members signed up for this premier destination.  Its on the event page. If you are not a member, I will ask you join the PACK Club for this popular trip.

If you are not familiar with this event, a number of us descend in on Port O'Connor on Thursday, the evening before, get dinner, hang out and be rested for the first shuttle run, usually soon after daybreak.  We stage our gear, at the  Clark's Marina dock, load the kayaks and gear at the best of our ability. If you are taking a Pro Angler 14 let us know in advance. We pay to park at Clarks, usually $10

It takes about 45 minutes to run to the Island. Another hour to unload and run back for the second crew. Pack what you need. There is no running water out there. Latrines are where you find them...  They have shelters (although a little weathered), fire rings, and picnic tables. Of course, the fishing can be pretty awesome. Reply directly to me for questions, chrisarceneau@gmail.com  832-216-2483    AND, I can use a co-leader. Please step up. Chris
