Yarborough Pass (NEW UPDATE)

For those of you that are doing this trip, everything is looking great.  One thing I would say is to be sure you have the things I am about to mention or be traveling with people that have these items.  The items are:

tow strap

chain

tire claws

traction boards

shovel

bucket

come-along winch

Do not go through the Pass at night during this trip.  The storm surge and coming out of a full moon has had the ocean water all the way up to the dunes.  One group will head up on Thursday and arrive around the morning and the other group is heading up on Thursday arriving in the afternoon.

If you are prior military, access to the park is a minimal fee.  I don't recall what the cost is to get in the park for everyone else but you can look up Padre Island National Seashore and it will give you all the details for park entry fees.  NO CAMP FIRES on the bay side of PINS.  The beach side is allowed camp fires.  We will be staying on the bay side.  Coleman cookers and other brands are allowed and even a small grill.  Be very mindful when taking care of the used up coals after cooking.  It's not hard to start a fire on the bay side.

As mentioned in the events thread, there is no cellular access at PINS.  Be sure to get your calls done before arriving.  Also, we will not be doing organized meals like on the Panther Point trips and such.

If you think you might want to do this trip, it's still not too late to sign up.  Text or call me if you have questions.
