PACK opened the meeting welcoming members and guests for a total of 22 in attendance. The meeting began by asking if anybody had anything for Trade or Sell. Please see the PACK Forum for these items in the Sell/Trade section. Please click here to see the items.
PACK reviewed our last 4 trips since the October PACK meeting and we had some good trip reviews and pictures. Trips that were reviewed are as follows:
Panther Point Campout – Sept 19 -21
Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge Day Trip - Sept 27
Bolivar Hilton – Nov 9 – 11
Sea Wolf Park Flounder Run Day Trip – Nov 10

Announcements were made concerning the upcoming PACK Holiday Feast to be held on Monday, December 17th from 6:30 to 9:00p.m. at the ST. Arnold’s Brewery where we will have a celebration of PACK’s past events with a Photo/Video Slide show, announcing the Final 2008 PACK Trip Calendar and the 2008 PACK Officer election. Also, various door prizes are to be given out during the evening and there will be a brewery tour. The BBQ dinner will be served starting at 7pm and will cost $7 per person. PACK is paying for the Brewery Location Rental and there will be an open bar for tasting different types of beers. Please note that non-alcoholic drinks will also be available. If you plan on attending please send an email RSVP to: RSVP@PACKTX.org so that PACK may plan for an accurate head count for the BBQ serving. If you ordered a PACK hat or shirt they are here and you will be contacted for pick up. Also, PACK DECALS will be given out at the PACK Holiday Feast. If you want one or have paid for one you may pick them up there.
Official Nominations were received and final elections were done at this meeting. Congratulations to PACK’s new 2008 Officers:

Also, assisting the officers this year will be new PACK member, Brad Valtierra who will help with PACK website content management (please let Brad know if you have any ideas regarding content). In addition, Chris Arceneaux, has volunteered to identify the 2008 Speaker program for next year’s PACK meetings. Your ideas are encouraged for topics and or if you have somebody you would like to come speak, then please let Chris know. Also, 2008 PACK Tournament sponsors have been identified and Jim Tesch the Tournament Director will be contacting the PACK volunteers to help. Volunteers will help with contacting sponsors for prizes for next year’s 2008 PACK CUP Tournament.
Next, we reviewed PACK History Trip Locations and reviewed outcomes of our 2007 trips so that we could then prepare in the next few weeks for selecting the final 2008 PACK Trip Calendar. Please click here to see the forum discussion for some new locations for next year. Also, please remember we will need Trip Leaders for these events so please step forward and volunteer. Also, next years first quarter PACK meetings for Guest Speakers have been identified and will be confirmed shortly.
2008 PACK Meeting – Guest Speaker List (Tentative)
Aaron Reed - TSJ Kayak Safari as featured in the Texas Sporting Journal.com magazine, Aaron has started a Kayak Tour of the Texas Gulf Coast. PACK will hope to learn about this extreme edge kayaking/fishing adventure for future locations and tips for long distance paddling. Click Here to read more in his article in the TSJ.
Captain Steve Soule – “The Shallowist” – Steve will talk to us about Steps to Locating Big Trophy Trout. Steve brings over 30 years experience from Florida to the Texas Gulf Coast.
Captain Chris Martin of BayFlatsLodge.com – Chis will be talking to us about his fishing school and will present his 101 class to the Middle Gulf Coast with no secrets held back. Chris has been a great sponsor for PACK’s Yearly Tournament and were glad to have Chris come speak to us.
