Matagorda Island Shuttle Trip Weekend of May 5-7

We have less than 3 weeks to go before shoving off for this trip from Port O'Connor. We will talk about it some at tomorrow's PACK meeting (6:30 PM Mendenhall-Sosa Community Center 1414 Wirt Rd)  We have 9 folks signed up, Brad is sailing over to the campsite, so I think we can safely make a 4th shuttle (using 2 boats / 2 runs) by signing up 3-4 more kayak fishermen or ladies.  The link to the event is on the PACK Events Page.

Some tips for making this a fun and safe trip. Pack what you really need, kayak, paddle, tent, bedding, tackle, PFD, rod n reels. food and water*. On the subject of kayaks, do not pack anything inside except rods and reels, and maybe a PFD. We have to load and unload to the bay boats. Also, PLEASE no lures on the rods, since we have carry them bucket-brigade style back and forth from the boats at least 4 times.   *Water ~ Gallon per day.

Recommended items include hat, sunglasses, sun screen, Buff, gloves, bug spray & head-mesh-net, stake-out stick, anchor, VHF Radio (highly recommended), fillet knife, ice chest, cookware, seasoning and food. We usually have fresh caught fish cooked a variety of ways. As we get closer we will talk about meal planning, who will go down to Port O' Connor Thursday May 4th (me), and who takes the first two shuttles. Large gear bags and Large ice chests are really heavy, so it helps to keep each load manageable. OK, enough of that! The fishing is awesome, the star gazing is great, and the fun lasts 3 days.
