Description:

Smith Point Day Trip at Robbins Park
April 10, 2010

Trip Description:

Robbins Park is strategically located on Smith Point, offering the perfect base from which to explore the numerous angling options depending on the winds. East Bay meets Trinity Bay at Smith Point. After launching from Robbins Park it is a short paddle to marshes, numerous oyster reefs, the Van-ta-un Islands & Reefs, Smith Point Flats, Texas Co. Flats, Trout Point Flats, Frankland Cove Flats, etc. Refer to HOOK-N-LINE Map No. F. 104 “Wade, Shore & Pier Fishing Trinity Bay - E. Galveston Bay - East Bay” for map details. The bottoms vary from hard sand and shell to soft mud. Topwaters, 51Mirrolures, spoons and soft plastics on 1/8 and ¼ oz lead heads work great. There aren’t any live bait shops in the area. Past trips have delivered cooperative trout, flounder, reds and alligator gar!
