Trip Initiator: Blake Colburn
Trip Description: This trip is to the Nueces River out of George West, Texas. This time of year the white bass start to moving. In doing so, that is the optimal time to catch these creatures. The choice of rod/reel and baits are as follows. You can use a trout rod but I prefer an ultra lite. If you are on a budget, Academy sells a low end rod/reel combo for $19.99. Fly rods using a clousers have been doing real well. The white bass haven't made it all the way up the river yet so the bite is still not quite as hot as I would like but if you have a fly rod, you can do wonderful things out there from what I have been told. Minnows on conventional means and fly rods both have served well in the past. Lately the best choice of catching with artificial is a soft plastic paddle tail on a small weight jig head (ex: 1/8 oz, 1/16 oz, 1/32 oz).
The bait shop doesn't open until 6 am. I will be getting my minnows the day before so I don't have to rush to the launch spot.

You may want to bring a 360 light as it will be dark for a short time. You can catch white bass anywhere along the Nueces River but I have a spot I like to go to. I will not post the location. Be at the launch so that you can be ready to launch by 6:30 am.
