Trip Initiator: Michael Emshoff

Trip Description:  3 mile Lake Paddle-In / Fish and Camp

Camping location coordinates:  28°36'58.8"N 95°56'26.2"W

We will camp at 3-Mile Cut.  If you have 4-wheel drive, we will drive down the beach and park at 3-Mile.  We will be camping on soft, compacted sand. Remember to get your permit to drive on the beach at Stanley's General Store. Please bring your VHF radio and set it to channel 69. Phones also works.   If you do not have 4-wheel drive, partner up with some one or call me. You can also camp at the RV park near by and paddle in.   Tides look good this weekend.

Weather permitting:  We can always slide the trip because we don't have to have reservations.

How to Sign Up:  If you want to go, login, and click the [Enroll for this Event] icon on the top of this page to have your name added to the list.

How to Get There:  From Houston, take 59 South to Wharton, TX.  Go south on Hwy 60 to Matagorda.  Keep going over the bridge and park at one of the marsh entrances and paddle to the camp site.  GPS coordinates will be forthcomming

Or drive South till you see the beach entrance and drive down about 2 miles, cross the beach to the back side of the island.  3-Mile Cut is visible on the maps.

MAPS / Photos of Interest:

Images below show campsite and the Beach Entrance, marked by the "X"

"O" marks Rawlings Cat marsh entrance but use the one on the second picture below.  It is near Rawlings Bait Stand.

PARKING near Rawlings Bait Camp on the South bound side of the road. Park South of the last river house. Carry your kayak and gear across the street and under the cable with reflectors.  Paddle out and then keep to the shoreline and go into the marsh and work your way back to the 3-Mile Cut.  GPS Coordinates are above.
