A return to a long time PACK Destination. Although the lodge is gone, we can camp or make it a day trip!

Trip Description: Camp or day trip. Stay down at Spoonbill RV Park and Campground. Tent or RV. Each site has a picnic table. Facility has pavilion over looking the river and Trinity Bay, fish cleaning stations, clean shower & bathroom.

I have booked Sites 26 & 27.  Each is suitable for 2 tents. Very reasonable, about $16 / night each participant.  You may make your own camping accommodations at Spoonbill RV Park. Please let me know if you do. You can buddy up, two cars allowed at each site with overflow parking available.  936-334-2786  Ask for Tammy or Glenda

No group meals have been planned, looking for some leadership here!  Bring food & drinking water, have enough gas to get back to Anahuac. You may be able to get lunch at the A & D Cafe (409) 355-229 / 111 Barbara L St.

How to Get There:  450 OLD DUTCHMAN RD Smith Point, TX 77514450 Old Dutchman Rd, or Enter "Spoonbill RV Park; Smith Point, TX" in your navigation device.   Just 1/2 mile past Jeri's Seafood Plant in Smith Point, turn right on Hawkins Camp Rd, 3/4 mile, stay to the right on Spoonbill RV Park drive.

Important items:

  • VHF Radio for communication and emergency contact
  • First Aid Kit 
  • Food, Water, snacks to last 3-4 days
  • Anchor and/or Stake-Out Stick
  • Foul Weather Gear \ Rain Gear
  • Tent and proper camping gear
  • Light
  • Chair

Everyone will be required to have a current signed waiver on file or signed and printed to provide to the trip leader the day of departure. If you are not a PACK/ACA Member please also include $5 per person/per waiver. This is not an option no waiver no trip


REQUIRED READING:   Recommended guidelines for participates:

  • Make sure trip leader or an officer has your emergency contact
  • Notify the trip leader if you have any potential concerns
  • If inexperienced, then buddy up. Make sure the trip leader knows your experience level
  • Communicate with the trip leader, if you are unsure of your skill level required
  • Member dues are current
  • Guests are invited to particpate - After signing a Release Waiver
  • Have performed deep water entries
  • Carry a first aid kit
  • Have a life jacket
  • Have a VHF radio
  • Inform the trip leader of your float plan if planning to fish alone or longer then the designated times.
  • Sign in and sign out at the launch site. Inform the trip leader if you will be launching in a different place.

Recommended for Trip Leaders:

  • Insures proper authorizations
  • Secure sites
  • Prepare emergency preparedness plan
  • Keep abreast of weather conditions that might effect the trip
  • Point out any potential area hazards
  • Maintain a head count
  • Have available a first aid kit
  • Have a VHF radio

Guest Participants:  Guests of members and new partcipant guests are welcome. They must supply some basic information such as cell number, emergency contact and sign a PACK Waiver.  Contact the Trip Intiatior to Enroll.
