Trip Initiator: Blake Colburn
Trip Description: This trip is going to involve a little bit of marsh with some open areas. This area will have many shallow spots and the water is generally clear unless the wind has been strong or if it has rained much. You will be able to see the reds so it's important to throw baits that are applicable in clear water and I highly recommend flourocarbon leaders unless you are fishing top water.
Brown & Root Flats can be very amazing which is why I am doing this trip during April to maximize the time for a possible epic trip. I also took into consideration the moon phase. As long as weather doesn't become a problem, this should be a great day of fishing!
Baits to use are anything and everything in your tackle box. I have found that top waters can be great when the winds are calm for reds. The color patter I am particularly fond of with wake baits are a red head with a chrome body.
