8 Mile Road-Sportsman Rd Day Trip
January 29, 2009
Trip Description:
The 8 Mile Rd/Sportsman Rd area is a great place to fish this time of year, it has lots of options for fishing. Once in the water you will have the option of fishing Confederate Reef, South Deer Island and Sweetwater Lake to name only a few. Fish the drops offs of the shell ridges – you can wade or drift, concentrating on finding fish suspended along the ridges. Plastics, top waters, live or dead bait – you still have to find the fish.
Watch the tides, the wind, weather and temperature and dress appropriately, always wear your PFD.
Be prepared to renew your membership if it is due and to resign your insurance waiver. Adrian will have forms available.
Skill Level: Beginner
Note: Paddling distance is approximately 1 mile to South Deer Island and 1 to 2 miles to Confederate Reef. There can be considerable boat traffic in the area, be very careful if the fog moves in.
