I got to go once again out in the surf at Hi Island with the TKF crowd. Nice people. Very helpfull group and they try to keep it safe as possible. Met some more of the diehard surf kayak fishermen and fisherwomen and they really helped me alot. I got enthused after TJ's (Jolly Roger on the TKF website) speech at the last meeting. I enjoy the bay fishing a lot but this is an alltogether different experience going out in the surf. If you have ever been challenged to learn something new to kayaking, I highly recommed trying out this facit of kayaking as it is only really good during August , Sept, and October. Right now the fishing in the surf is really good. Saturday I caught 2 bull reds that really give you a run for your money. One guy caught 6 bull reds during the day. All together there were about 20 kayaks showed and there was probably 20 sharks caught and probably about 40 bull reds caught during the day. Here are the pics I took. Note in one of the pics a guy was fighting a 6' bull shark and he turned his kayak sideways for more drag and the fish was pulling him pretty fast sideways.......awesome thing to watch. In another picture the same guy caught a very large stingray. The pictures of the bull red in the water and the one inside the yellow kayak are the two I caught. I'll be back in the bays and intercoastal waterway next spring, I'll probably do the surf thing as much as possible till it gets too cold. Iffin the hurricane IKE doesn't mess the water up too much I'll be back there next Saturday.
