Hi everyone..

I found a PACK card on my window Sunday while yakking at Mahan Park in La Marque. Figured I would check the site out. Who tagged me? We headed right at the launch and went about 2 miles up the bayou.

Awright!!  I confess!  I did it!  I wanted to spread the word about PACK so I dropped off a card.  I am the 2009 PACK president and thats part of my job!  If you have any questions about the site or our trips don't hesitate to drop me a line.  We have a meeting next Tuesday at Canoesport from 7-9.  Steve Soule a local fishing guide here in Houston will be our guest speaker.   Our meetings are usually at REI on Westheimer on the 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Me and my fishing buddy Tom launched at Louie's at Hwy 6 and fishing the railroad bridge and beyond in the morning and then came back when the winds picked up and launched again over at Mahan Park - we went as far as the bridge and then paddled back 2 feet at a time into that nasty headwind.  Bet you had a fun time coming back - you may have run into Jason (camoflague search 15) we left him at the bridge.  Tom threw back 4 trout and I forgot how to catch fish (apparently).

The wind was outstanding. Especially the last  1/4 mile or so. Won't ever do that again. We made the mistake of going out past the second bridge. I didn't see anyone else out there.  There was one section in the bayou - maybe 100ft or so, where NO WIND was hitting. The water was dead calm and covered with leaves. Something here VERY large made a ruckus in the water - I told my wife it was probably just a big alligator gar because the water was too cold for gators.

I don't think it was. If it were a gar, it would have been a 300lb'er.... on the way back to the launch, we passed 3-4 kids that came running to the water to inform us that there were "lot's" of gators in the bayou. hehe. I don't think my wife will ever go back there now.  I lied to her and told her that TPWD told me there were NO gators in Highland Bayou (there are plenty of gators there), but I don't think she believes me.
