The presentation by Donna of the Houston Canoe Club arouses my interest in doing a multi day trip. What's the longest multi day trip that you have done in a SOT? Would you do it again? Where would you consider going? Any members interested in doing the 7 day Pecos run, if it's doable in a SOT?

Hey GB...our trip to Shoalwater is my longest and I've extended that by an extra night... fri, sat, and sunday. I don't think packing for the Pecos run would be the issue.. we could get all our stuff in the boat... but paddling a tarpon 160 or 140 fully loaded like that would be interesting. Its no problem paddling it in a straight line for 6 miles like we do at Shoalwater, but doing a river with the rapids they do would be interesting. I know with the proper gear, small tent, small stove, freeze dried food, water bladders, we could do it in a t-160 but I'm not sure whether I could manage the river fully loaded like that.. Of course the farther down river you go, the lighter the boat gets and the better it would handle as you got to the rougher rapids. I'd like to hear what Eli had to say about whether he thinks a SOT could do the trip as well as a canoe..
If I had unlimited free time on my hands, I'd definitely try the pecos trip. Other than the food and water, you'd pack the same gear for a weekend as you would for a week.. Going with an experienced crew like the HCC, I'm sure any of us experienced kayak campers could handle the trip...
