I'm making a list of all the speakers that I can recall (will need some help too), as well as a list of potential speakers and just as important - topics the club would like to have covered, which would help me identify new speakers. So please email me or reply on the forum what you would like to see and hear or speakers you'd like to see.

The obvious:  Where to fish  /  What to throw and how to retrieve  /  Tackle selection

Other topics:  Fish bite patterns  /  Kayak Rigging Options  /  Outdoor Photography (I think Ken is working on that one)

Lure construction  /  Bay ecology  /  Shoreline restoration  /  GPS / Navigation  /  Greenland Paddle construction

TX Land Office / Future of TX watersheds /   Safety topics  /  Game enforcement  /  Other Outdoor Writers

I think we should include several members a year to contribute a short series on stuff they do, like when Dick showed us his flounder rigs, or Barry displaying some lures, Fritz customizing some kayak rigging.  Chris

I for one like to hear Guides and Manufacturing Reps speak.  I just might learn how to fish, and there is always that new gadget that I must have.

Jason and I had spoken to:

·         Benny Landrum and Scott Null.  Both are Reps for Shamano, and they agreed to speak in 2008.

·         Ray Crawford, author of Texas Coastal Fishing Books, had agreed to speak again.

Scott Null who also represents “Texas Saltwater Fishing Magazine” (Gulf Coast Connections) had indicated that Everett Johnson was willing to speak to PACK again.

“Texas Fish & Game” Magazine has a Kayak Writer, Greg Berlocher.  We should see if we can get him to speak, and or participate in one of our outings.

Dean Thomas “Slowride” has spoken to PACK in previous years and is a big draw; but the last time I spoke with him he wanted a “speaker fee.”  In past years I had given him travel/gas/food money.

I would like to hear TJ Pilgrim & Chester Moore speak again in 2008.

The following were our 2007 Speakers.

1.    Phil Perry, of Coastal Kayak Angler website (http://www.coastalkayakangler.com) and the “Fishing Mission”

2.    Charles and Bruce with Canoesport

3.    “Capt. Steve Coffee” Steve Coffee's Fishing Charters

4.    Scott Ezzell, FTU, “Reel Cleaning/Repair

5.    Jason Brown and Kayak Team www.brownlures.com

6.    Capt. Steve Hillman

7.    Capt Scott Null - "Ultimate Guide to Kayak Fishing"-

8.    "Jolly Roger" Topic: Kayak Surf Angling - "Beyond the Breakers"

9.    Chester Moore - Editor of Texas Fish & Game Magazine

10. Marcos Enriquez - Orvis - What's New

11. Capt Steve Soule's

you are hitting all the bases... in general, most of the guides are interesting... but the other topics you've suggested would be great...sometimes the guides are a little repetitive ... there are a couple other kayak guides out there whose names escape me at the moment.. but maybe they'd be interested...

just thought of something else... how about someone from tpwd.. like a game warden that covers the area...may sound weird, but if you find the right guy, he could probably tell some interesting stories... educate us about some of the rules that are a little grey, maybe even some honey holes...
