Looks to be a worth while event, especially, if new to kayaking.

Agreed - All hands need to take advantage of any Paddling Safety Classes – SmartStart Paddling Orientation   Beginner and experienced Kayakers need to be aware of a full range of useful information before they get on the water:

·          What to Wear

·          Essential Gear and Supplies

·          Trip Planning and Preparation

·          Safety on the Water

·          Paddler Responsibility

·          Paddlers need to learn specific skills, including:

·          Boat Balance and Trim

·          Loading and Launching

·          Use of Life Jackets and other Safety Gear

·          Paddle selection and use

·          Paddling to avoid injury

·          Boat maneuvers including spins, turns, forward in a straight line, and controlled stops

·          Self-rescue and assisting others

Be advised, that by the end of May, PACK will have four Certified Paddling Instructors within the Club.  The Paddling Safety Classes will be available within the club.  PACK’s Certified Paddling instructors are:

Milton Robertson

Eli Rivera

Adrian Ramos

Ken Jennings
