Friday the PACK Armada made its annual trip to PINS - Yarborough Pass. The Armada joined up at the Malaquite Visitor Center, then headed down the beach. Beach driving conditions were good, we all two wheeled it to Yarborough. The surf was green, wind was out of the South 10-15 mph clear sky, 96 degrees, it was hot. Upon arrival we found Yarborough Pass to be drivable via 4x4, we drove over the Pass to the Laguna Madre and fished Yarborough Flats. Everyone caught fish, lots of small trout, and a few keeper reds. The water conditions were great, clear water, but there was a pumping wind out of the South making paddling any distance difficult. We called it a day at 5 PM and headed back to the beach to set up camp. Along the pass road we all saw deer. Saturday morning we woke with a coating of sand from the night wind. Everyone headed back to the flats by 8 am. Again everyone caught fish, small trout and slot reds. The diehards fished for 10 hours plus. It was hot on the water; half of the group wimped out because of the heat and wind, and headed back to camp at 2 PM. The deer were spotted again along the Pass road. A few of the group took a swim in the surf to cool off. Saturday night we had a group meal of hamburgers. At about 9:30 PM we had a coyote visit our camp staying at the edge of the camp light trying pick up a few of our left over's. Sunday morning we all woke again with a coating of sand from the night wind. We broke camp early and headed for home. We all had a great time, we will be returning next year.

Quite impressed with you intrepid sand dogs...I am jealous of the good fishing and good time I'm sure you guys had. Wish I had gone. Were there any repeats of the bird action in the surf anywhere along the drive?
