If you like to catch trout, this is the time of the year to hit the bayous and rivers, especially since it has been a dry year.

Brazos River - Two weeks ago, caught and released all the sand trout you wanted.  Fish were caught close to the mouth.  I was in PB, but you can reach same spot by driving along beach and launching a kayak into river.  Sand trout were caught on tails, but using little jigs, like spec rigs were the best, resulting in many two at a time hook-ups.  There have also been lots of reports of flounder but I struck out.

Lavaca River - This past Sat, caught some nice trout to little over 20".   Fish were about 6' deep, along a sandy bank.  You can access from FM616 boat ramp or another boat ramp thats just downstream from the FM616 ramp in Lolita.  Best bait was chartreuse split tail grub on 1/8 or 1/4 oz jigheads.  I got the report previous weekend that limits had been caught previous 3 weekends.  But the word is definitely out amongst the locals as there were plenty of boats in the river.

I'm also hearing reports of trout in chocolate bayou, bastrop bayou, caney creek, and colorado river.  Over years I've caught trout in all of these, including the San Bernard (I imagine they are being caught there too, but I haven't heard anything yet).  Good thing most of these bayous, creeks and rivers have good kayak access.  As long as we don't have any heavy flooding rains, these spots will only get better and better. You probably won't catch a wall hanger, as a 20"+ trout is considered a big river/bayou trout, but if you locate them, you can catch a lot.

I normally stick with minnow type soft plastics (like TTF flats minnow) in glow or chartreuse.  Also the curly tail and split tail grubs work great at times.  And if you like gulp, always seems to be good.  But don't forget about small silver rattle-traps or small topwaters.  One sunny day couple of winters ago, the trout went wild for bone spook jrs.
