I fished the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge shoreline Saturday morning. Launched at the boat ramp and headed west. I caught a few dink trout on the shoreline right at daybreak. Before I knew it I was surrounded by powerboats and other kayakers so I decided to move. Headed back towards frozen point and saw some slicks popping. Set up for a drift and caught some more dinks close to the shoreline. I kept drifting away from the shoreline and once I got into about 3 to 4 feet of water I spotted more slicks. I fished these slicks and ended up with 2 trout 16 & 17 inches and several missed opportunities. I was off the water by noon.

Thanks for sharing....were the PBs a big problem or was it easy to avoid their wakes? Sometimes I think my yellow kayak is a certified PB magnet - I keep looking for a sign or beacon on my yak that says "buzz bait"? It could be just my imagination?! Again, thanks for the read.

The only problem was that everyone wanted to fish in the same spot because they saw me hook up.

I know that feeling - seems that the PBs and even an occasional kayak people just have to get close enough to count all the spots on your reds and trout...like you I just move on and let them fight over the spot. Always a better honey hole where the crowd haven't spooked the fish. I consider those few individuals just fishing tourist and not true sportsmen. It does get aggravating sometimes especially when your chum or cut bait smells better than the unwanted intruders?! Really hate to smell the PBs boat exhaust fumes - It should be noted that if your not smart enough to figure out the proper oil/fuel mixture of your engine; then you should not be allowed on the water...but that's just my opinion - seacow.
