Had the opportunity to go out with our April guest speaker Capt. Scott Null last Thursday. This was my first fly rod only trip and he managed to put me on some fish but my casting was suffering. I can cast accurate, tight loops all day long in my front yard but put me on the front of a skiff and it was like I forgot how to cast. I did manage to cast in front of one red cruising in front of the boat from right to left and it nailed my fly. A few minutes later I was holding my first Redfish caught on the fly rod. Missed several shots after that but I'll get um next time. Capt. Scott showed me some different casts to work on and taught me a lot about how redfish behave. I'm definitely looking forward to going out with him again this fall. If sightcasting to redfish is your thing I would definitely recommend hiring Capt. Scott to pole you around on his skiff for a day.

Great report and congrats on the accomplishment. I am looking forward to catching my first red on a flyrod as well. I hope to accomplish this summer if time permits me. Those were some nice pictures also.

What flies did you use?
