Caught it down in Everglades City in Turner Creek on Monday 2/26 after the Chokoloskee Paddle In on Sat 2/24. Met a local guide that works in Chokoloskee and in Hackberry, La and he confirmed a good paddling/fishing spot I had planned to take. Paddled in a few miles thru mangrove tunnels, past gators, otters, and other misc Everglades National Park stuff. Caught a few lady fish/etc and then had a tarpon blow up under my kayak and a few casts later ended up with this for dinner that night. Low tide hit me coming back and had to break my paddle in half and use it as an oar to get thru the narrow mangrove tunnels. In a few spots had to walk the kayak due to low water, but it was well worth it for the kayak ride with this snook.

If you go to http://www.floridasportsman.com under Forums/No Motor Zone there are a few discussions of the Paddle In trip and some ariel photos of the 140 or so kayaks that participated on 2/24. http://outdoorsbest.zerof...erothread?id=590744. Read the Chokoloskee Paddle-in Report dated 3/3/2007. Also Dean Thomas was there and may have some infor on his site, I have not checked yet.

That's awesome, Bob!

I've heard that snook have been returning to the Texas waters farther south, like around South Padre Island and maybe some places a little north of there.

Congrats on the great catch.
