Two day report, Sportsman's with the PACK group on Saturday and Kemah by myself on Sunday. The early part of Saturday morning was unreal. Almost no wind and the water was gin clear, like chest deep and still gin clear. It was pretty cool to see kayaks spread all over the place. I know there were more, but I counted 13 in Sportsmans/Deer Island area. Miles and I started a wade along one of the reefs and quickly realized we were goin to have to find deeper water and a change in water color. As soon as we moved a little farther out, the wind made it's presence known. I had to use a driftsock to keep the drifts reasonable, still wanted to fish deep and slow. Normally I throw Gulp, and pretty much nothing else. But with the water as clear as it was Gulp was no going to work. I tried a TTK KIller Flats Minnow, a Brown Lure Devil Tail, but a Billy Betts Holographic Shrimp did the trick. Landed a red on my first drift with it. A couple drifts later and a little farther out (maybe over the old intercoastal), I pulled in a flounder. In the Afternoon, I moved inshore to fish in the bayou and the marsh. The tide had come in but the fish had not. I met Miles back at the Launch and he had a couple of very nice trout on his stringer.

I spent Sunday anchored in the Kemah Channel throwing live shrimp. On a nice day, the channel always puts on a show and Sunday was no different. The fishing was good, brought home 3 trout, but caught about a dozen. The game warden was checkin out everyone with a fishing pole in thier hand. Saw one guy get a ticket, he tried to tell the GW that it was his brothers stuff (He didn't have his lisence). I Laughed outloud when I heard that one. Saw another guy and his daughter get boarded, she didn't have on her life jacket and their registration was out. They were so busy waving at us that  they didn't even see the GW slide up next to them and start boarding them right there. Of the three boats that were around me, none of the fish were over 18". Nonetheless, with two days worth of fish, dinner is gonna be good tonight.
