I'm doing a quick run to Double Bayou/Oak Island in the am... plan to launch about 630. anyone willing is welcome to tag along. I'll be hitting some honey holes just south of the mouth of DB in Trin bay.
I just saw your post from yesterday, but this was the only day of this weekend I couldn't make it anyway. If you issue rainchecks I'll take one .
osok
Did the trip qualify for an update?
I remember you telling me this weekend was not going to work for you, but you didn't miss anything at Oak Island. I mainly wanted to see if the ramp was still good, and was hoping the wind would be enough from the ne to fish that shoreline of trinity. Unfortunately it was a little too much north or nnwest and the water was muddy on that side. Not much happening exact the faint odor of skunk......
I did make a drive down to smith point to check things out there. The tide was so high sat, around 11 that the ramp parking lot was under about 6 in of water. would have been a wet wade to the truck....glad I didn't launch there yesterday am. But things looked about like I expected. Still think that area has some potential for good fishing this fall. Or any time the wind allows.
I also checked things out at Ft Anahuac. I hadn't been there in a while and just wanted see how it looked. I drove down to the end of the road and was surprised at how few people there were for a holiday sat... I'll need you to educate me about where the fish are. That area always struck me as a long paddle to get around the horn to the mouth of the Trinity and that area. But, I may be worth it....
Sooner or later, we'll figure out a time to fish... I'm planning to go to west bay with Barry's Trip next weekend if weather permits...
