A large group of PACK anglers and guests were greeted by a beautiful dawn and excellent conditions at Salt Lake Saturday morning. Everything pointed to a good day of paddling and fishing . For the most part that was all true, except someone forgot to tell the fish it was a primo day. Perhaps it was the change in atmospheric pressure, the bright sky, not sure what else, but the catching was spotty. I have reports of catches by Bob S, Mike H, Chris A, Cindy F, and Ron R. If anyone else had any luck, would you please post your results. Also, being the dolt that I can be...I managed to dump the pictures that I took. So if anyone has any pictures would you please post them to the site. Otherwise, this will be a pretty uninspired trip report.

I had good time except for the phone calls and emails from work. I 15" speck followed me back to the dock, the first fish I ever caught on trolling from a kayak. It would still be swimming the lake if it hadn't swallowed the jig.  I think I'll sneek back there some weekend morning. Good job Ron!  Chris

 Hey Ron,

Thanks for leading the trip.  Meredith & I had a great time.  I ended up catching quite a few trout mostly around 14 to 15".  While landing a small trout I noticed a school of reds cruising the shoreline.  I quickly released the trout and chased down the school and immediately hooked up with a 24" red.  I kept the red and a few minutes later stuck a 16.5" trout that I also kept.  All fish were caught on the west/southwest shoreline using a bone super spook jr.

Good deal, Michael. Thanks for the report. Did you capture a picture of the red... that would be the leader in the clubhouse so far. Glad you and Meredith had a good morning. Sorry I couldn't pull myself away from the reds I was chasing back in the marsh. I didn't make it back to the launch until 1:30. Sorry we didn't share that story and a cold brew before you had to leave. I've not heard of anyone else doing as well as you on this trip.

Michael started the Salt Lake photo album with his fish. Good looking red!
