Very lucky lady. Lessons learned by me is to continue to always wear my PFD, carry VHF radio, and cell. Start carrying a small flashlight (which is already in my truck). Carrying glow sticks would also be good. I suspect her glow stick problem was from breaking them instead of crushing them to activate. Recheck condition of my safety equipment on a regular basis. I always tell my wife where I'm going and about what time I expect to be off the water and do call her when I get back to shore. I need to start telling her to call for help if she has not heard from me by a predetermined time.

Accidents happen but no excuse for me not to be prepared.
