Is there any thought for a BTB trip? I have never been and last summer was my first year I planned to go but I had knee surgery and that idea went away fast. I'm sure someone here does these trips on their own time. Help some of us newbs out. :)

It would be great to back to the beach and do that again. If you set it up, date, place, & time I'm sure you'll get some takers. I check in with Mythman and Jolly Roger and their BTB group on the BTB forum on TKF. They plan trips to the beach at High Island and Bolivar all the time.

It would be great to do a BTB trip or weekend. I have some experience BTB and would like to go with any PACK members interested. One of the benefits of this activity is that if it is too hazardous to launch from the beach you can elect to surf fish. Beaching and launching in a kayak is a skill that is best "caught and not taught" (OJT). A quality safety and/or procedural brief is essential. I especially enjoy fishing BTB in a kayak when there is a power boat functioning as a mother ship. The extended range allows for fishing offshore rigs and wrecks that might not normally be accessible. At least once, or twice a year; I take a boat out of the Naval Air Station with a couple kayaks in tow. Once the targeted island or fishing location is reached anchor the bow of the boat and put another anchor under foot (anchor from stern veering the scope to short-stay) - from there it is all kayak fishing. The power boat serves as mother ship (toilet, galley, ice, camp gear, etc..) Keep me in mind when you are ready to go BTB.

It looks like there is interest but I don't have any experience BTB. If anyone can step up to do this, I am sure it would be a packed trip.
