Anahuac Post Ike Cleanup Nov 8 - from Galv Bay Foundation

Dear Volunteers:

As many of you know, we hosted the Clean Up Around the Bay on October 18-19 in lieu of the Bike Around the Bay (our annual bike ride that was cancelled because of conditions resulting from Ike). The Clean Up Around the Bay was a great success! Approximately 300 volunteers participated in the clean up event held at Galveston Island State Park and Virginia Point Peninsula Preserve. Due to the success of the event and requests for another Ike recovery event, we are hosting Clean Up Around the Bay Part II on November 8^th. The hurricane clean up event will take place at the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge.

Schedule: Saturday, November 8 – 9:30am-3:00pm (lunch will be provided)

Location: Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge (Anahuac, TX, Chambers County)

Activity: We're going to focus on clearing debris from the Butterfly Garden, Willows area, and Visitor Information Station. We will be collecting the debris and relocating it to facilitate pick-up and removal.

If you would like to participate in the hurricane recovery event, please click here to send me an e-mail with the following information by 5:00pm, Monday, November 3 (space is limited so please reply as soon as possible):

· Full Name

· Number of volunteers in party

· Number of minors in party (volunteers must be 13 yrs of age or older. Minors(<18) must be accompanied by an adult)

· Cellphone number

· Did you participate in the first Clean Up Around the Bay event on Oct. 18-19?

Once I receive the above information, I will register you for the event and provide detailed directions and instructions (what to bring, what to wear, etc.).

We are very disappointed we had to cancel the ride this year, but we are extremely excited about the support we have received for Clean Up Around the Bay! We hope you can join us on November 8^th and for Bike Around the Bay 2009. Thank you!
