The Weather man continues to frown on our trip tomorrow. I'm not one to let a little rain get in the way usually, but this forecast is a little too poor. Every site I check is calling for heavy and sustained rain and scattered thunderstorms. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I think we should call tomorrow off. I will volunteer to lead the same trip next weekend for those that can change their plans. I will make an announcement at the meeting next Tuesday and get a feel for the level of interest. I will still watch the weather for some shocking change between now and 6PM and will post an official cancellation by that time today.

Oh Mike my sentiments exactly... I do feel like a "mary"... but I had to think about the other 16 guys and gals and their safety. A little rain never hurt anyone, but lightning on the water is a total bummer. No doubt tomorrow will be a better day for ducks than for fishing. Hope you have a blast and successful hunt. Maybe you can join us for a little fishing next weekend when the teal have flown south....Maybe this water will give them a reason to hang around here for a while....

Just kidding, couldn't resist but you guys made the right call. I hope we don't get blown out and belive me I won't be waving a 12 guage metal rod in the air if it is lightning. Hope to be fishing with you guys soon.

I got to the kayak ramp at 6:30 AM this morning.  I waited around for about 30 minutes and then decided to start fishing making my way to the Weir.  The whole time to the Weir you could see the reds back in the grass.  I first hooked a trout, then a 26 inch red which ran under my kayak a few times, and a second trout.  At 10:30 the lighting started with light rain and I was able to get back. I will make plans to be then next weekend.  I had a great time.
