Matagorda Beach Outing Report

Thanks to all those came out to join us for the first PACK outing at Matagorda Beach this past weekend. As of early Sunday morning JIm R. had the big fish contest in the bag with his 22.5" red from the 3-mile cut area. The company was good and so was the temperature. The mosquitos had a share of my blood and I bet some of yours too. Yes of course, the campground commandant was a little strict but what do you expect with a little Lower Colorado kingdom in your control. I'll be back to fish the river more and I hope you will too.

We left mid morning to do some scouting East of Matagorda. Stopped in for a breakfast burrito at Culver's Market in town. Ya'll gotta stop there next time! Please report back your catches from today (Sund) on this thread. Later, Chris

A good crew of us ended up a at 3 mile lake to access East Matagorda bay from the beach...catches that I know of were Bruce 25 inch red on topwater, Ken 20 inch trout on tout and and two flounder, Jason 17.5 inch trout on tout tail, Hershel and John both had flounder, Kyle had a 22.5" red on a tout tail. We saw a lot of single reds, they were skiddish and did not want top waters with rattles. Bruce and Ken split the pot for the big fish contest...congratulations on 3 tough days of fishing. Chris, Thanks for leading the trip.

I had a good time and enjoyed it very much great bunch of guys to fish with.
