Report by Michael Emshoff: on Friday Ken, Dave, Troy, and Michael met at Stanley’s General Store at 9:00 am to start the trip down the beach to the camping area. The major concern I had was the depth of the sand, so Dave who had the biggest 4x4 Truck went first into the sand. As we drove into the sand, I quickly found the sand not to be a problem and I even saw some 2x4 cars parked along the beach.

After driving though the 3-mile cut, we found a nice patch of sand to camp.
The weather was awesome on Friday, 5-10 mph breeze, full sun in the seventies and cool nights.
I hooked up with two keeper reds and Troy found a keeper Flounder.
Saturday, we rolled out of camp and paddled to our spots on the water and this included Bruce who showed up for the day. The wind picked up at noon and the tide went out which gave us the area in front of the camp site to fish. So we decided to take a break from fishing and wait for the tide to come back. At about 4:00, we went back in the water hopeful to get a Red to eat.

Dave was able to see the Reds but unable to land one on his fly. Troy paddled to deeper waters. Ken hit most of the marsh without any luck. I paddled to the Duck blind area and caught four rat reds, a flounder and a small trout. At night we had a fire in Dave’s BBQ grill to keep the mosquitos at bay and talked about life, the stars, and beer. Sunday due to the tide going out, we decided to break camp at 9:00 and head home. This has turned into my second favorite fishing trip due to the car camping, closeness to home, and the fishing. I will definitely do this trip next year.
