This year PACK had its 8th annual Kayak Anglers Tournament on Saturday 7 June 08.
This weekend we were greeted with some very tough fishing conditions - high winds and higher than normal tides – only the very good and very lucky were successful.
The PACK tournament format has no grand prize per se. The first place winners pick from a pool of items donated by our sponsors. Then the 2nd place winners, then 3rd and so on until all the weighed fish are accounted for. This year that happened very quickly unfortunately. But all 65 tournament participants had their names dropped into a bucket for chances at the incredible amount of door prizes donated by our sponsors.
Thanks to a great donation request letter drafted by our VP (Ninja), a few phone calls and harassment emails we had over 60 sponsors donate items. We laid out 160 items and had enough to go thru the winners then twice thru the list for door prizes.
We also held a raffle for a Bay Flats Lodge guided trip for 4 – won by Alex Torres and the Wilderness Ride 135 donated by Wilderness Systems was won by John Staigerwald. The kayak will be tricked out for fishing by the folks at Southwest Paddle Sports (www.paddlesportscom).
No Slams this year but Bruce and Ed came close.
