Meeting Minutes - Tuesday 17 June 08
1. Monthly meeting opened with a welcome to the 39 guests and members present.
2. Eli reported on the tournament. Tournament was a huge success but water conditions were far from ideal after having five days of high winds which muddied the bays. As a result only ten fish were weighed in from sixty-five anglers with no slams. Adrian with his PR charm acquired many new sponsors and many nice prizes which were passed out as door prizes since we couldn't catch fish. Brad Valtierra saved the club many buck-a-roos by designing and providing the Pack Cup Banner with all of the sponsors on it. Nice work! Hats off to Brad.
3. Those of you that walked away with a prize (everybody that was there) be sure to sent a thank you email to the sponsors.
4. Ken Jennings reported that five members recently took part in an intensive two day instructor training course given by Southwest Paddlesports (Patti Carrothers) at Hidalgo Falls on the Brazos River. See attached photo. As a result we now have five members, Eli Rivera, Adrian Ramos, Ken Jennings, Randy Frisina, and Steve Robinson, with ACA Basic Kayak instructor certifications. A few Pack members also attended the mini version put on by TKF and Artist Boat (www.artistboat.org) this past weekend and found it very worthwhile.
5. Brad passed around his work of art for critique/approval of a certificate to send to each sponsor with the winner’s photo. One word, Awesome!
6. Buy/Sell contact Mike Emsoff if you are in the market for a good Perception. He has one for sale. See classifieds
