PACK Trip Report - Shoalwater

This past weekend 3 hardy PACK Members headed to Shoalwater.  Launched from Charlie's Bait Camp, and made the 6 mile paddle in little over 3 hours.  The wind was slight out of the SE.  We set up camp on Grass Island.  Barry S and Jim R exclusively fished with fly rods.  At about 2 PM the wind picked up to SE 15 mph, with heavy gust up to 20 mph.  Ken J fished conventional because of the wind.  We all saw fish but didn't catch any Friday.  Friday evening it rained.  Saturday the wind was still pumping, Jim and Barry fished the shore line of Grass Island, both catching their limits of Rat Reds.  Ken fished the grass line and limited out on dink trout.  Several PB saw our group catching fish and tried Pot Licking near us, none of the PB's were seen catching fish.  About noon time Saturday it started to rain hard, we all ducked into our tents with our muddy boots, now we all had mud in our tents, big mistake.  Sunday the wind had died down to nil, we broke camp and headed back to Charlie's while the getting was good.  We got rained on again on the way back.  What's a PACK outing without a little wind and rain.  We all had a good time, PACK will be back again next year.
