Allan Leeper, thanks again to you and Kristan for joining us
for BBQ and at our PACK meeting yesterday. You make a good point on the money
spent to just get on the water vs. the few bucks to replace bearings on our
favorite reels. I learned three things for sure, if a reel was dunked in
seawater, dunk it in freshwater and let air dry until we have a chance to take
it down and clean it, video or photo the removal of parts for obvious reasons,
and don’t go crazy with the oil. You mentioned several advanced technology
lubes that would be good to have.
I’ll have to get with the other guys there on the highs and
lows of all the reels you mentioned in the discussion, such as the TX favorite
Curados, Lews, H2O’s, Diawa, Penns and so on. I did remember that the Quantum
Cabo PT is a good spinning reel to check out. For those that missed the meeting
Allan can be reached at 281-469-9898 [Seekfishing@gmail.com ]to
discuss issues with a reel, go to his store at 3211 Cypress Creek Pkwy (FM 1960
between TC Jester and Kuykendahl).
