I called PINS on Wednesday and Yarborough Pass Is open. I was told that the sand was soft so four-wheel-drive will be extremely key for getting through the pass.
On another note, I was told by the welcome center that the tides have been extremely high. When it hits high tide, the water goes all the way to the dunes, making it impossible to get on the beach. If you are going early, make sure you are going during low tide. Also, sleeping on the beach will be impossible because we might wake up in the ocean, lol. My plan was to originally arrive Friday evening and sleep on the beach. When Saturday morning came, I was going to meet everybody at the pass at 5 AM. Since sleeping on the beach might be impossible for now, I will be driving up early Saturday morning.
Let's meet at the welcome center at 4:30 AM. From there we all can caravan onto the beach all the way to Yarborough Pass. We might arrive a little bit later than 5 AM at the pass. No worries, the important thing is that everybody made it and we can all get through the pass and help anybody that gets stuck along the way.
Keep in mind that there is no cell reception along the beach. Once we get to the welcome center, there will be no way to communicate if you're running late. Please be early to the welcome center so that we can all drive down together. If you are having any problems or dilemmas, please call me before I arrive to PINS.
