We are in the planning stage for 2015. Lets get a good number of trips on the books so we can plan accordingly for 2015.

If you would like to lead a trip, please reply with where and when you would like to go. If you would like to make a trip suggestion, please reply here as well.

We will be reviewing the trips during the November meeting and should use this to discuss and plan additional trips.

Please look at the locations PACK has gone in the past and lets book some trips. Trips posted on Google: https://www.google.com/ma...JVvasug.k6BsPZEBBSHo

I would like to propose a different kind of coast trip where we take a bunch of stuff to a camp island. The island would be Steamboat Island which is located approximately halfway in between Port Oconnor & Seadrift, Texas.

I have (2) 20 foot Tripper Canoes and would rig them into similar arrangement as shown for the Twin Aluminum Canoes in Tandem. We would require (4) guys to paddle out in this arrangement. We would pack a lot of stuff in both canoes & then lay the kayaks across on top. Not sure if the lanteen sail is necessary but if we elected for that option we would require some kind of dagger board.

THE ROUTE

Basically we would paddle out in Shoal Water Bay where the water is typically less choppy. I have done this in a Wenonah Advantage open canoe fitted with a rudder. The Route I am showing is a route I took a couple of years ago in a Solo Outrigger Canoe for the Texas 200 to Seadrift. Steamboat Island is show as a small arrow around the main route.

Most of my paddling experience has been on extended Trips on the Rio Grande or Pecos Rivers. Over the years I tried to convince my River compadres to do such a trip that I am proposing. For the most part none of those individuals have an interest as they are more focused on River Trips.

This Organization seems to be a more likely candidate to have such a Trip as I periodically check the Trips and photos that are posted. To be honest I am not even sure when such a trip would occur as I stay very active with my son (age 9) in various sports. But I thought I would put it in your forum.

In past years we have in fact done that trip. Departed from Charlie's, paddled 6 miles with gear, camped at Shoalwater/Catman Island/Grass Island/Green Island. Trip(s) were usually in April.

I'd be glad to lead a trip anywhere in Central Oregon... good candidates are the beautiful Cascade Lakes.. Hosmer, East Lake, Davis Lake, or the Middle Deschutes River... It would probably have to be a weekend trip.... the drive out here and back is a bitch in 24 hours...
