. Trip Initiator: Dave Garza Trip Description: 3 mile Lake Paddle-In / Fish and Camp Camping location coordinates: 28°36'58.8"N 95°56'26.2"W We will camp at 3-Mile Cut. If you have 4-wheel drive, we will drive down the beach and park at 3-Mile. We will be camping on soft, compacted sand. Remember to get your permit to drive on the beach at Stanley's General Store. Please bring your VHF radio and set it to channel 69. Phones also work. If you do not have 4-wheel drive, partner up with some one or call me. You can also camp at the RV park near by and paddle in. Participants can also camp at LCRA Matagorda Nature Center and Campground. Make your own arrangements. Weather permitting: We can always slide the trip because we don't have to have reservations. What to Pack/Bring: See Standard PACK List for items to consider for any PACK outing Important items: VHF Radio for communication and emergency contact First Aid Kit Food, Water, snacks to last 3-4 days Anchor and/or Stake-Out Stick Foul Weather Gear \ Rain Gear Tent and proper camping gear Light Chair Everyone will be required to have a current signed waiver on file or signed and printed to provide to the trip leader the day of departure. If you are not a PACK/ACA Member please sign the PACK USCA waiver. This is not an option, no waiver - no trip REQUIRED READING: Recommended guidelines for participates: Make sure trip leader or an officer has your emergency contact Notify the trip leader if you have any potential concerns If inexperienced, then buddy up. Make sure the trip leader knows your experience level Communicate with the trip leader, if you are unsure of your skill level required Member dues are current Guests are invited to participate - After signing a Release Waiver Have performed deep water entries Carry a first aid kit Have a life jacket Have a VHF radio Inform the trip leader of your float plan if planning to fish alone or longer then the designated times. How to Get There: From Houston, take 59 South to Wharton, TX. Go south on Hwy 60 to Matagorda. Keep going over the bridge and park at one of the marsh entrances and paddle to the camp site. Or drive South till you see the beach entrance and drive down about 2 miles, cross the beach to the back side of the island. 3-Mile Cut is visible on the maps. MAPS / Photos of Interest: Images below show campsite and the Beach Entrance, marked by the "X" "O" marks Rawlings Cut marsh entrance but use the one on the second picture below. It is near Rawlings Bait Camp. PARKING near Rawlings Bait Camp on the South bound side of the road. Park South of the last river house. Carry your kayak and gear across the street and under the cable with reflectors. Paddle out and then keep to the shoreline and go into the marsh and work your way back to the 3-Mile Cut.
