Who said you ever needed a boat to catch Tarpon in Texas?!?  Registration deadline for the kayak division has been lifted so those sitting on the fence have more time to register.  This will be a small group of kayakers (maybe 2 groups based upon comfort / skill level).  If you're up to paddling offshore this is a great opportunity to learn a new type of fishing.   We keep safety a #1 priority, you will need a VHF and mobile phone in a DryPack while on the water.  The Tarpon have been in the Galveston area for a few weeks now and numbers will continue to increase through August.  During the last offshore paddle (late June) I spotted 4 Tarpon to appoximately 150lbs as close as 3/4 mile from the beachfront.  During the month of August the fishing conditions are "usually" near perfect for spotting Tarpon.   In addition to a lucky Tarpon hookup, you may inadvertantly hook into hard fighting Kingfish, Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel, and Sharks.  Expect to paddle more than usual; however, paddle speeds while trolling lures is only 2mph.  We utilize several fishing methods including trolling, drifting, and sight casting lures and bait (live and dead).  Our fishing location(s) for the the tournament have not yet been determined, we may fish either Galveston, Freeport, or Port O'Connor.  If you have any questions contact me at 281-216-2173 -- Steve.

No fish were spotted by kayakers and paddled over 20 miles on Saturday between 2 locations (POC and Galveston).  That's fishing....
