Along with two friends, I took the ferry from Galveston to Boliver this morning. We were on the water at about 8 a.m. and fishing by 8:30 or so. We ran from Stingaree around to the drains on the south shoreline of East Bay and caught trout almost non-stop for 2 hours or so. We had a good number of double and triple hookups. After the frenzy slowed, we continued to catch a few from time to time with a nice slot being included. There was very little wind and a nice out going tide. The trout were feasting on shrimp coming through the drains-some trout still had shrimp in their mouths when they were brought into the boat. At the cleaning table, I noticed many of the trout had been eating shrimp. I don't know if color was a factor or not but we were all throwing plastic tails-glow/chart.; limetruse, etc. A few were caught on a silver spoon. We did not see any birds working bait in the open bay as we also expected to see.

Thanks to Ron R for the tip. A beautiful morning and incredible fish catching!

Great report Jim. We noticed that too with the trout. In places, the water was like a soup with tiny inch long shrimp.

glad my tips work for other folks...now if I could just go fishing myself and find a fish.....had a run of undersized fish lately. Lots of just shorter than keepers.
