New to this style of fishing. Sight casting in shallow water over grass. Will you rig weedless and throw mostly tops? Would like some suggestions on lures to take and how to rig.

I'd take topwaters, weedless spoons, and weedless rigged soft plastics.

I always fish with soft plastics and never had a problem with the grass using regular jig heads. The key is to use a 1/8 or 1/16 jig head and begin retrieving the lure a soon as it hits the water. If there is floating grass you can usually shake that loose by giving a couple of hard and swift tugs while retrieving as well.
