Am heading back to Port A at the end of this month [08/30 thru 09/02/13] and wanted to know if anyone wanted to share some past experiences/present knowledge of the area - good places to launch, lure[s] of choice, honey holes, hot spots, etc. Also, as I'll be the sole kayaker, need to know if anyone from PACK is interested in meeting in Port A or Aransas Pass to join me, or if you know of anyone down in the area who frequently fishes the area and would be interested in having a grass flats newbie as a compadre.

Get a recent Hook-n-line map of the area. There are tons of areas to fish, easy places to launch, some safer for your vehicle than others. Depending upon the winds and tides, fish South Bay, Redfish Bay, Brown and Root flats, or Lighthouse Lakes(only if you have gps) or if you can swing it... book a day with Slowride Guide Services and fish with Dean Thomas. Its worth the money and you'll learn more about the area in a day, than digging it out on your own in weeks.

If the winds cooperate, fish top waters to tailing reds, or DOA shrimp, or whatever paddle tail soft plastic you like. Excellent launch facility at Hampton's Landing, where there is a TPW public boat ramp, also plenty of launch spots along the causeway to Port Aransas. As long as the weather cooperates, you can safely fish without paddling for miles. If you buy the wade and kayak fishing version of the map at any tackle shop, it will give you all the detail you need for where to launch and where to fish.
