Happy New Year everybody! The next time you see Brad Valtierra, please thank him for the awesome job he's been doing as PACK's President since 2013? Also, Eli Rivera for his ongoing contribution as our Treasurer, Ken Jennings for his re-occurring role as Vice-President and Bruce Berhens for keeping our Website current!

I'm outlining my plans for 2017 now and again at our January meeting: 1.) Re-affirm that one of the purposes of PACK is to help the incoming kayak fisher gain success on the basics of getting on fish with a kayak, gear suggestions and reliable venues to bring some nice fish to the net. 2.) Work with the board to bring in fascinating speakers to expand our abilities and knowledge of the Texas outdoors. 3.) Introduce a series of skillsets that will stretch our talents, the first being - Catching the Elusive 30" Speckled Trout, and 4.) Focus on growing our membership which like any organization is affected by attrition for any number of common reasons.

I also wish to introduce a different term to the club that in the end will result in more trips, exciting trips on our yearly Events Page. This is: Trip Initiator. Everyone of you are Trip Initiators. We all have the same resources at hand to scope out a location, check weather and tides and to pop a trip on the calendar. One of the great things about our website is that you can go back 10 years or more and research past trips for the particulars. I will survey you on regular basis to ask for your participation as a Trip Initiator as well as make sure you have all the resources to help make it happen.

See you Tuesday January 21 where Steve Soule is our guest speaker. Join us for BBQ about 5:30 at Goode Co. BBQ at 8911 Katy Freeway in the same parking lot as Carter's Country. Bring fishing reports!! Chris Arceneaux
