I'm interested in getting some feedback from the members about the weekend trip to Sam Rayburn this August at Jackson Hill Park and Marina. This park has more amenities than some of our camp outs and wanted to get a feel for any interest in how to set up this trip. There are primitive tent sites and power and water sites, rv sites, cabins, and a pavillion. The park also can provide some extra services such as meals, tournament style "weigh-ins", etc. The place isn't fancy, but is well located within the Angelina National Forest. There is not as much boat traffic as we'd see on the coast and there is a variety of fishing structure close by.
Since we haven't had a fresh water outing like this in a while... I was hoping to get some early feedback on any suggested activities and level of interest in the trip. I need to let the park know whether we want to reserve any of the special facilities or whether we just want a place to camp and launch our boats. Check out their website
www.jacksonhill.us to get an idea of what the area is like...
I would be happy to do a weekend trip to Rayburn. The Jackson Hill Park looks pretty good and we have a small pop-up camper, so we are interested.
Thanks for the response Thomas... I did make a slight error in my original thread. Jackson Hill does not have a cabin large enough for 15...I had a brain cramp and mixed up the amenites at Jackson Hill with another site. Jackson Hill does have a pavillion,, small cabins, etc... Thanks to Ken J for spotting my goof up
I think it is a good idea. August may be hot without those ocean breezes but we do not know till we try. At night we can keep a lookout for Bigfoot !
sounds like fun. Another fresh water area with cabins is Fayette. I've stayed in the cabins and they're really nice. Spring or early summer.
